Kickstart Slides new album ……
Slide would like to thank everyone who contributed to the successful Kickstarter campaign that recently hit its target, and some. Without your generous contributions we would not have been in a position to make a start on our new record. A special thanks goes out to the Doherty clan, who we met at the Michigan Irish Fest in Muskegon. We'll see you in Michigan soon for that special night. Those of you who bought the compositions, we are working hard to write some really nice music for you, We will be in touch with everyone who bought the T-shirt package to ensure you get the right size, and Daire will be in touch with details about those fiddle bows for all those who bought that special piece of Slide memorabilia! That goes for the lucky purchaser of Dave's bodhran, one of a kind.
Please stay in touch on Facebook, and follow the recording sessions and general progress of the album. Some of you bought time in the studio with us, Mick & Dave will be touch about that to firm up a time a time that suits. Those of you who bought the Skype lessons, if you have not already done so, please let us know who you would like to Skype with us and we'll arrange that to fit in with your schedule.
We will be giving regular updates and previews on our Facebook page, and would like to hear your comments on your previous experiences with Slide. We tried to make the incentives as interesting and appealing as possible, but if you think we missed out on something please let us know.
kind regards from all in Slide
From Éamonn, Daire, Aogán, Mick and Dave
Thank you :o)
Slide - Traditional and Contemporary Irish Music
Fáilte - Welcome - Bienvenue - Willkommen - 欢迎 - Welkom - Υποδοχή - Benvenuto - 歓迎 - Boa vinda - Добро пожаловать - Recepción.
The Irish Times calls SLIDE “traditional musicians with attitude" and credits the group with “bringing drawing room grandeur and high spirits together” with it’s diverse songs, which range from soulful and sorrowful to contagiously energetic. Folk Roots Magazine proclaims, ”There’s plenty of action and flamboyance in Slides’s music,” which merges “swagger with traditional expertise.”
This rollicking band’s origins date back to Ireland in 1999, when Slide performed in various pubs for a local music festival in Bandon, Co. Cork. The group’s intoxicating music easily won over the crowd, which demanded more of the unique and colourful sound. The positive reaction inspired Slide to release The Flying Pig, which Irish Music Magaize hailed as “beautifully recorded, to preserve the brilliance and clarity of solo and ensemble playing that is positively mind-blowing.” The publication awarded Slide its Best Newcomer distinction in 2001, leading to gigs for the band throughout Europe.
